A Maiden's Resolve re-introduces characters from the previous chapter, Trails in the Sky - First Chapter, and is a direct continuation from past events. At the beginning of the Prologue, we are re-introduced to our first new temporary playable character, Anelace Elfead. In a similar matter to the First Chapter, we start the journey with Estelle Bright and pushed into early combat for familiarisation with some of the new combat mechanics such as Chain Crafts. Players new to the series will want to avoid playing on [Hard] and [Nightmare] difficulty modes as these are designed for players with existing carry-over data from the First Chapter or whom have already completed the chapter and are re-playing on a harder difficulty.
A Maiden's Resolve has an early start to pushing out a devious plot, with Jaegers attacking the Le Locle Canyon - Training Lodge where Estelle and Anelace have been conducting their bracer training. As the plot unveils towards the end of the Prologue, the characters meet some fellow bracers along the way and introduces the events for the beginning of the main story.
